About the Artist

MY MISSION STATEMENT

My art business exists to make time spent in waiting rooms with children seem faster and more enjoyable by providing a fun distraction of searching for items in colorful works of art that I create.

MY VISION STATEMENT

When I create my artwork I am thinking about two things:  Creating an eye-catching piece of art, and, how it can help children in waiting rooms stay distracted while passing the time.  If I could paint a very detailed, mesmerizing piece of art that takes someone a while to look at the many animals, scenery, and most of all, find the 10 hidden objects, then I have met my goal for that artwork.

I have a vision of seeing my artwork in waiting rooms of dental and medical offices, or anywhere there are children waiting.  Finding another way for my artwork to help children is always on my mind.  Perhaps in autism centers, schools, art therapy, etc.  The more I learn how it could benefit children, I will mold my artwork to meet that vision.

MY STORY

While my young children and I were spending many hours at doctor/dentist offices, we played “I Spy” to pass the time.  My goal was to make time go by faster and easier while waiting.  Years later I remembered this and painted a mural in a pediatric dental office of a fish tank which had 10 hidden toothbrushes in it.  The idea of SEARCH FOR 10 was born!

Besides being a parent, my degree in Elementary Education inspired me to focus on helping children (and their parents) pass the time with fun, mind-absorbing, search-filled artwork.  I have since created three scenes with each having 10 hidden items corresponding with their office settings:  toothbrushes for dental, bandages for medical, and keys for any setting.  I wanted to ensure the artwork was so detailed that even after all 10 hidden objects had been found, the exploration continued.  “How many butterflies do you see?  What kind of animal is that?  Can you find the flamingos?”.  There is an abundance of animals and captivating scenery that continue to hold children's attention.
